Health, Safety and Environment Advisor (HSE)

The Role:

Due to our team’s growth, we’re excited to add another Health Safety Advisor (HSE) position to our expanding team. Reporting directly to the Head of Safety for Viva Energy Retail Group, this role is ideal for a proactive and experienced HSE Advisor who thrives in a dynamic environment. You will provide essential leadership, coaching, and support to the Operations team, assisting in the effective management of risks and incidents and ensuring the successful implementation of the National Safety system and strategy. The successful candidate will lead by example and play a critical role in fostering a proactive safety culture across the organisation. As the key point of contact and support for the Operations team and other internal stakeholders, you will drive continued improvement and excellence in safety practices across your areas of responsibility.

Your contributions:

• Promote a positive safety culture to help drive continuous improvement in WHS
• Support operations team and other cross functional areas of the business to apply skills and knowledge to effectively manage WHS
• Support the development, implementation, and review of WHS policies, procedures, and programs aimed to help ensure the safety of people, sites and environment
• Risk management activities including completion of risk assessments, site inspections to identify hazards and put in-place actions to mitigate risk
• Provide expert advice and support on WHS matters to all levels of the organisation.
• Investigation of workplace incidents and the implementation of sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Support the development and delivery of WHS training and awareness programs
• Prepare and maintain accurate WHS records, reports, and documentation.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, external auditors, and other stakeholders as required.

What we are looking for:

• Tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operational Work, Health Safety position
• Experience in retail multi-site operations will be highly regarded 
• Knowledge and on-job experience working with WHS legislation, standards
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Some travel will be required to successfully fulfill the role
