The Role
The Safety System Support Specialist plays a vital role to the operations by providing smart data insights to help ensure overall health and safety performance across the OTR Group.
Responsibilities
The role works closely with the National Governance Manager in the development and maintenance of the policies, procedures, forms and tools used by each business area including the oversight of the risk, document registers and legislative tracker to support the operational requirements of the OTR Group Safety Management System.
This role provides data rich reporting and can adjust their style to meet the various business operational levels from site through to board level papers. The role will actively work and report across a range of data systems including audit and assurance, Injury Management, Fuelsuite (bio-fuels) and myOSH (Incident Capture) to ensure the OTR Group meets it operational, legislative reporting requirements.
You will provide:
- Support the Operations team to meet their safety responsibilities and drive continual improvement in the areas of HSE to help drive a Safety-First culture.
- Conduct data interrogation, statistical analysis, quantitative and qualitative research to identify organisational gaps, surface new insights, identify issues and risks, and generate value-add information for decision making.
- Provide timely delivery of defined and ad-hoc safety, health, environment, and quality reports including weekly, monthly and quarterly business, and regulator partnering activity reporting, REIT quarterly submissions, Shell incident reports, and exposure hours.
- Support the National Governance Manager in the maintenance of the OTR Group risk register, document register and safety framework.
- Evidence collation and action plan monitoring for Group line of defense 3 safety assurance activities
- Support in the drafting, consulting and implementation of both OTR Group and brand specific policies, procedures, form and tools to support the safe daily operations and the delivery of the OTR Group strategy.
- Maintain an awareness of the organisation, look for recent developments that may impact safety, health, environment, and quality and in consultation with key stakeholders identify fit for purpose solutions.
- Translate information for others, focusing on key points and using appropriate, unambiguous language.
- Compile the Annual Safety and Compliance Management review & periodic biofuels reporting for NSW & Qld
- Maintenance of the regulatory contact tracker and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely action of all notices and corrective works resulting from regulatory engagement in areas such as Environment, Dangerous Goods Health and Safety
- Develop and implement reporting frameworks, including determining fit for purpose lead and lag indicators, producing technical analysis and reports for key stakeholders.
- Capex and Opex tracker and monthly spend consolidation with Finance team.

Qualities & Experience
- Experience in analytics and reporting including metrics and dashboards.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
- Proven ability in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of business plans and systems.
- Coordinate multiple deliverables and support various stakeholders effectively.
- Qualification of one or more areas; Safety, Compliance, Governance, Data management and Analytics
Skills & Abilities
- Advanced numeracy, data analysis and Microsoft Excel skills.
- Understanding of Power BI, with SQL and DAX skills preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Advanced problem-solving techniques.
- High attention to detail and proactive approach to managing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
